Use the Backlink Audit tool to fetch linking domains from Google Search Console or CSV, evaluate their risk with AI and export a disavow file when needed.
1. What the Backlink Audit does
The Backlink Audit is a PRO tool that helps you review which domains link to your site and decide whether any of them should be disavowed.
From one screen you can:
- Fetch linking domains directly from Google Search Console via API.
- Or upload a CSV file exported from Search Console as a fallback.
- See each linking domain with:
- Number of links/clicks.
- A Risk level (Low / Medium / High).
- An AI Analysis summary.
- A Recommendation (keep, review, or consider disavow).
- Select suspicious domains and export a disavow file in the format expected by Google’s Disavow Tool.
Backlink Audit does not upload anything to Google or change your account.
It only helps you read data and generate a file that you can upload manually.
PRO only
This screen is available when your license is active.
Without a license, you’ll see an upgrade notice instead of the audit interface.
2. Connecting to Google Search Console #
When you open SEO Magic → Backlink Audit for the first time, you’ll see a connection card:
- Title: Connect to Google Search Console.
- Button: Connect with Google.
To connect:
- Click Connect with Google.
- Log in with the Google account that has access to your Search Console properties.
- Grant read-only permission so SEO Magic can read backlink data.
Once connected, the top of the screen shows:
- A dropdown to select your verified property (e.g.
https://example.com/). - A button Fetch & Analyze Domains.
- A button Disconnect Google Account in the top-right corner, in case you want to revoke access later.
3. Fetching linking domains via API #
The first section of the screen is:
1. Fetch Linking Domains via API
To use it:
- Make sure you are connected to Google Search Console.
- Choose the property you want to audit from the dropdown.
- Click Fetch & Analyze Domains.
SEO Magic will:
- Request the list of linking domains from the Search Console API.
- Combine that with additional checks (e.g. Safe Browsing) and internal logic.
- Analyze each domain and assign:
- Links/Clicks – an indication of how many links or clicks come from that domain.
- Risk – Low, Medium or High, based on several signals.
- AI Analysis – a short explanation (e.g. “High-authority domain.”, “Suspicious pattern of low-quality links.”).
- Recommendation – Keep, Review, or Consider disavow.
The results appear in a table below the controls.
You can use the “Filter domains…” search field to quickly find specific domains in the list.

4. Uploading a CSV file (fallback) #
If the API method is not available for you, or you want to audit a custom report, you can use the second section:
2. Or Upload CSV File (Fallback)
This section includes:
- A Go to Google Search Console button – opens the Search Console interface so you can download the report.
- A file input to select your CSV file.
- A button Analyze CSV File.
Typical workflow:
- In Google Search Console, download the Top linking sites report (or an equivalent domain-level backlink report) as CSV.
- Back in SEO Magic, click Seleccionar archivo / Choose file and select that CSV from your computer.
- Click Analyze CSV File.
SEO Magic reads the file locally, extracts the linking domains and runs the same AI analysis and risk scoring as with the API method.
The resulting table (Linking Domain, Links/Clicks, Risk, AI Analysis, Recommendation) works exactly the same.
5. Understanding risk levels and AI recommendations #
For each domain in the table you’ll see:
- Linking Domain – the referring domain.
- Links/Clicks – how many links or clicks are associated with that domain in your report.
- Risk – a colored badge:
- Low – usually normal, trusted or common domains.
- Medium – domains that may deserve a closer look.
- High – domains that look suspicious or potentially harmful.
- AI Analysis – a short natural-language explanation.
- Recommendation – one of:
- Keep – safe to keep; no action needed.
- Review – consider reviewing the links from this domain manually.
- Consider disavow – candidate for your disavow file if you agree the links are harmful.
The AI is there to assist your decision, not to replace it.
Always review high-risk domains before deciding to disavow them.

6. Exporting a disavow file #
At the top-left of the results table you’ll see a button:
- Export Disavow File
To build a disavow file:
- In the table, tick the checkboxes next to the domains you want to include.
- Click Export Disavow File.
- SEO Magic will generate a
.txtfile in the standard disavow format, with one domain per line (for example:domain:example.com). - Save this file to your computer.
Below the controls you’ll also see two helpful links:
- How to upload your disavow file (Search Console Help) – opens Google’s official documentation.
- Open the Disavow Tool – opens the Disavow Tool where you can upload the file.
Important notes:
- SEO Magic does not upload the disavow file to Google for you.
- You remain fully in control of what is disavowed and when.
- Disavowing links is an advanced action; if you are not sure, consult an SEO specialist before uploading the file.
7. Disconnecting your Google account #
If you want to stop the plugin from accessing your Search Console data:
- Go to SEO Magic → Backlink Audit.
- Click Disconnect Google Account in the top-right corner.
- Once the account is disconnected, the screen returns to the initial state with the Connect with Google button.
Disconnecting does not delete your Search Console property or change any settings in Google; it only revokes SEO Magic’s access.
8. Best practices & limitations #
Keep these points in mind:
- Your site must be a verified property in Google Search Console to fetch data via API.
- Data is limited by what Search Console provides (sampling, time range, etc.).
- Risk levels and AI analyses are heuristic, based on a mix of metrics and public signals.
They cannot guarantee ranking improvements or penalties. - Always double-check any domain you plan to disavow.
- Use the disavow tool only when you are confident that certain links are unnatural or harmful.
Backlink Audit is meant to speed up your review process and help you focus on what needs attention, while keeping all final decisions firmly in your hands.
