Metadata SEO: posts, products and images

5 min read

Use the Metadata SEO screen to generate and edit SEO titles, meta descriptions and social tags for your posts and products from a single table, with bulk AI actions (up to 20 items at a time) and a focused modal editor.

1. What the Metadata SEO screen does #

The Metadata SEO screen is the central place where SEO Magic manages:

  • SEO titles (meta title) for posts, pages and custom post types.
  • Meta descriptions for search results.
  • Social titles and descriptions for Facebook (Open Graph) and Twitter / X.

From this screen you can:

  • See the SEO Coverage for each item as a percentage (0–100%).
  • Run AI generation for multiple posts/products at once.
  • Open a modal editor to fine-tune all metadata fields for a single item.

Availability:
The Metadata SEO tool is available in both Free and PRO.
WooCommerce products appear here like any other post type if you enabled them in Scan Content Types.

2. Metadata SEO table: layout and navigation #

Where to find it #

In your WordPress dashboard:

  1. Go to SEO Magic → Metadata SEO.
  2. You’ll see a table similar to the standard WordPress list view, with extra SEO-related columns and actions.

Filters, search and bulk actions #

At the top of the table you’ll find:

  • A Bulk actions dropdown, with options such as:
    • Generate SEO with AI – run AI metadata generation for selected items.
  • An Apply button to execute the chosen bulk action.
  • A Search by title… field to quickly find specific posts or products.
  • A row of filter buttons to show:
    • All items, or
    • Only a specific post type (for example: Posts, Pages, Products, or any custom type enabled in Settings).

Table columns #

The table usually includes:

  • Checkbox – to select items for bulk actions.
  • ID – internal post/product ID.
  • Title – the post or product title (click to open the standard WordPress editor).
  • SEO Coverage – a colored bar with a percentage (0–100%) that shows how complete the metadata is.
  • Actions – two pink buttons on each row:
    • Rocket icon – one-click Generate SEO with AI for that item.
    • Pencil iconEdit: opens the metadata modal to review and edit all fields for that item.

3. Bulk AI generation (up to 20 items at a time) #

Bulk generation is the fastest way to create SEO titles and descriptions for many items at once.

Steps:

  1. Use filters and search to narrow down the list (for example, only posts, only products, or a specific post type).
  2. Select the items you want to process using the checkboxes.
  3. In Bulk actions, choose Generate SEO with AI.
  4. Click Apply.

SEO Magic will:

  • Read the content of each selected post/product.
  • Use your Main Site Topic and Generation Language from Settings.
  • Call the AI model (the Default AI Model or a model chosen by your AI Model Rules).
  • Write the generated metadata into your SEO plugin’s fields (Yoast, AIOSEO, Rank Math, etc.).

Built-in safety limit:
Bulk generation is intentionally limited to 20 items per action to keep the process stable and avoid overloading your server or API quota.
If you select more than 20 items, SEO Magic will only process the first 20 in that batch. You can then run another bulk action for the next group.

The SEO Coverage bar for each processed item will update once the metadata is saved.

4. Per-item AI generation (rocket icon) #

When you only want to optimize a single post or product:

  1. Locate the row in the Metadata SEO table.
  2. Click the rocket icon in the Actions column.
  3. SEO Magic will generate metadata just for that item:
    • Meta Title
    • Meta Description
    • Facebook / OG Title
    • Facebook / OG Description
    • Twitter Title
    • Twitter Description

The plugin updates your SEO plugin’s fields in the background and refreshes the SEO Coverage bar for that row.

You can then open the metadata modal (pencil icon) if you want to adjust the text.

5. Metadata modal: editing a single item #

The pencil icon in the Actions column opens a modal editor for that specific post or product.

Opening the modal #

  1. In the Metadata SEO table, find the item you want to edit.
  2. Click the pencil icon.
  3. A modal appears with the title “Editing: [Post Title]” and all metadata fields for that item.

This modal lets you focus only on SEO fields without leaving the Metadata SEO screen.

Fields available in the modal #

For each item, the modal shows:

  • Meta Title (SEO title used in search results).
  • Meta Description.
  • Facebook Title.
  • Facebook Description.
  • Twitter Title.
  • Twitter Description.

Below each field you’ll see a small indicator, for example:

  • Too short (X/60)
  • Too long (X/60)
  • Ideal (139)

These labels help you keep titles and descriptions within recommended length ranges.

Each field includes:

  • A text input or textarea.
  • A pink AI button on the right (sparkles icon).

AI buttons inside the modal #

At the top of the modal you’ll see:

  • Generate All with AI – generates all metadata fields (meta title, meta description, Facebook and Twitter fields) in one click.
  • Regenerate – asks the AI to rewrite all fields again with a new variation.

Next to each individual field, the pink AI button:

  • Generates or rewrites only that field, based on the current post/product context.
  • Leaves the other fields unchanged.

This gives you a flexible workflow:

  • Generate everything automatically when you’re starting from scratch.
  • Or fine-tune field by field when you already have a good base.

Saving or cancelling changes #

At the bottom of the modal you’ll find:

  • Cancel – closes the modal without saving the latest changes.
  • Save Changes – saves all fields and closes the modal.

When you click Save Changes:

  • The values are stored in your SEO plugin’s metadata fields.
  • SEO Magic recalculates the SEO Coverage for that item.
  • The row in the Metadata SEO table updates immediately.

6. How Metadata SEO uses context and AI #

When you trigger AI generation (bulk, rocket icon, or inside the modal), SEO Magic:

  1. Collects context from the post or product, such as:
    • Content and excerpt.
    • Post type and taxonomies (categories, tags, custom taxonomies).
    • Product details for WooCommerce when available (name, price, attributes, etc.).
  2. Combines it with:
    • Your Main Site Topic.
    • The configured Generation Language.
    • The Default AI Model or a model matched by your AI Model Rules.
  3. Asks the AI to create:
    • Clear, human-readable meta titles and descriptions.
    • Social titles and descriptions consistent with the search metadata.

The AI output never changes your main content:

  • Only metadata fields are updated.
  • You can edit any field manually at any time.

7. Best practices and common questions #

Is Metadata SEO available in the Free version?
Yes. The Metadata SEO screen is available in both Free and PRO.
PRO simply lets you combine it with extra tools and more advanced automation.

Does Metadata SEO modify the post content itself?
No. It only updates metadata fields (titles and descriptions used by search engines and social networks).
Your post content and layout are not changed.

What if I already have metadata set in my SEO plugin?
SEO Magic reads existing values and shows them in the modal.
You can keep them, overwrite them with AI, or use AI as a starting point and then refine manually.

Why is bulk generation limited to 20 items?
The limit of 20 items per bulk action is intentional to keep the process reliable.
It reduces the risk of long-running requests, server overload and API errors on busy or shared hosting environments.
